As most of Tamil Nadu celebrated “Uzhavar Thirunaal” yesterday many parts of Coastal Tamil Nadu recorded light rains. Some areas of Chennai also received spells of passing showers particularly closer to the coast. Similarly parts of Pondicherry, Cuddalore and surrounding areas to recorded short spells of rains in the morning.
On the day when the people of Tamil Nadu meet and greet their dear ones on the occasion of “Kaanum Pongal” expect slightly warmer than normal day time temperatures. Day time maximum temperature is expected to stay on an average 1 / 2 degrees higher than normal across the state except for possibly the North Coastal Tamil Nadu where Chennai could anyways see a warm day thanks to the Urban Heat Island.
Parts of South Tamil Nadu around Madurai / Tirunelveli region could see day time temperatures possibly be warmer by more than 2 degrees today. There is a faint chance of some isolated rains over Kerala later in the night on account of the Easterlies forced to climb the Western Ghats. Otherwise its going to be a fairly clear day for most of Southern Peninsular India.
