Warm weather with isolated Rains in South India

Yesterday saw isolated rains in south India particularly around South Interior Karnataka & Rayalaseema region from the interior places.  A few places in Kerala as well got some rains around Central Kerala.  The temperatures eased marginally yesterday with only Anantapur & Titalgarh crossing the 40°C mark.

Peninsular India continues to see the influence of Wind Discontinuity running all the way from Madhya Pradesh to Rayalaseema. This wind discontinuity is likely to trigger instability in the atmosphere over the interior places for another day of isolated rains.  16_3_1

Aided by the Upper Air Cyclonic Circulation over the Marathwada region the wind confluence is likely to give isolated rains in South India and some parts of Odisha & Chhattisgarh. Parts of East India including West Bengal could get isolated rains later in the night. While the chances of hailstorm are less thanks to the environment less conducive compared to a couple of days back parts of Andhra around Rajamundry region could see one or two places see hailstorms if conditions turn up as expected.

Temperatures in South India will continue to remain in the high 30s’ with only Coastal Tamil Nadu and the high ranges of Western Ghats seeing sub 35 degree temperatures.  Telengana could see some bit of easing in temperature though parts of Odisha could see the day time maximum temperature cross 40 degrees in a few places.

Interior Tamil Nadu will see day time temperature stay in the region of around 36 / 37 degrees in the Western & Southern regions.  Coastal Tamil Nadu will continue to see max temperature around 34 degrees.
