Reading Time: < 1 minute

Last night saw isolated rains over a few places in Chennai.  Avadi received about 9 mm rains while other places like Poondi, Puzhal etc received about 5 mm rains.  Places in South Chennai like Anna University, Thiruporur also received few spells of rains.

Southwest Monsoon Update: A likely low is expected to evolve in Northwest Bay off Odisha coast within the next 12 -24 hours.  This is likely to bring rains into East & Central India over the next couple of days.  Currently the Monsoon axis is very close to the foothills of Himalayas near the Gangetic Plain but is tilting to the South along East India thanks to the evolving low. The off shore trough aided by the moisture incursion from the Bay disturbance could potentially trigger good rains over many parts of Interior Peninsular India along with the Coastal region as well.

Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Partly cloudy skies over North TN with warm day ahead with one or two places touching possibly 37°C.   Towards evening few thunderstorms in North Coastal TN could bring rains to Vellore, Tiruvallur & Kanchipuram districts

Chennai Weather Update: Partly cloudy skies with temperature around 36°C during the day. Evening thunderstorms from the west could bring some rains to many parts of the city
