In a strange sequence of events for the third day in a row a small band of areas to the North of Chennai, from Red Hills to Tiruvottiyur, received spells of rains yesterday once again. Almost as a repeat of events the thunderstorms happened at very similar times all three days in a purely localized phenomenon.
Southwest Monsoon Update: Yesterday saw some good rains over Konkan coast after a very long time thanks to a localized vortex bringing in much needed rains to places in & around Mumbai. The Monsoon is expected to be triggered once again to life by the developing low over West Central Bay that is expected to evolve from an UAC currently off Odisha / Andhra Coast. This would bring in heavy rains to parts of Odisha, West Bengal, Coastal AP, Chhatisgarh & Telengana.
In the west coast the spells of rains are expected to continue over Peninsular West coast with some rains over Interior places due to moisture incursion created by the developing low.
Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Most parts of Tamil Nadu is expected to see a hot day with clear skies with temperatures around 37°C. Towards the evening a combination of convection driven by the moisture incursion from west coast & the instability created by the UAC evolving over the Bay could trigger thunderstorms over North Tamil Nadu. The thunderstorms today could be isolated and are expected to pick up in intensity from tomorrow.
Chennai Weather Update: Another hot day with temperatures around 36° – 37°C thanks to the clear skies during the day. Towards evening / late night there is a possibility of thunderstorms developing which could give rains to some parts of the city. From tomorrow the rains would be more widespread and heavier.
