With Southwest Monsoon onset nearing the summer heat in Tamil Nadu has started to ease with most places now settling in high 30s’ except for North Tamil Nadu where temperatures continue to remain around 40°C and above. But this is expected at this time of the year when Westerly winds take centre stage making things more comfortable for places in Western & Southern TN which typically see an early summer around April. Yesterday under cloudy skies most places in coastal North Tamil Nadu also saw near normal temperature day.
Things are expected to remain similar today as well with most parts of the state seeing temperatures below 40°C except for isolated pockets in North Tamil Nadu where places like Vellore & Tiruttani could notch up another 40+ day. With the low pressure in Bay of Bengal expected to influence the cloudy conditions and weather pattern over Peninsular India a possible partly cloudy day could keep temperatures under check with coastal places like Chennai seeing the day time maximum conditions peak at around 37 / 38°C.
On the rain front though things look good for a day of summer thunderstorms over Interior Tamil Nadu with wind pattern influenced by the Bay Low Pressure falling in sync for a spell or two of rains over interior Tamil Nadu. Parts of Vellore, Krishnaigir, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram & Perambalur districts could be ideally placed along with a few places in Dharmapuri & Salem districts.
It could be touch and go for Chennai as one or two suburbs of Chennai could be in line for a spell or two of late evening rains. Will the city area get lucky is a billion dollar question and in all probability we will come very close.
