After a lull of few days yesterday evening saw the return of rain bands over Coastal areas of North Tamil Nadu as parts of Cuddalore district and adjoining areas of Pondicherry recorded moderate to heavy spells of rains in the night. While the IMD observatory at Cuddalore reocrded more than 6 cms of rains neighbour Pondicherry recorded nearly 5 cms. While parts of Chennai recorded light drizzles the southern suburbs of the metro recorded decent rains with places along the OMR recording more than 1 cms while Kanchipuram ISRO AWS recorded more than 3 cms.

While a lot is being talked about the possible influence of incoming MJO over the Indian Ocean it is the Easterly wave that is likely to keep NEM ticking over the next week or so with active support from the West Pacific. Strong Easterlies pushing all the way from West Pacific is likely to bring in remnant pulses from South China Sea / West Pacific in all forms during the coming days giving a good window of rainfall for Coastal Tamil Nadu. As and when the MJO, currently stalled over the Eastern Parts of Africa makes a dash across Indian Ocean we will benefit from it as well.

Things should pick pace from today with coastal areas likely to see rains at many places all the way from Chennai to Delta region. Few places are likely to record heavy spells of rains as things pick up gradually from today. The stretch between Pondicherry & Cuddalore could once again be the hotspot of the day while Southern suburbs of Chennai may enjoy better spells compared to the city areas.

Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessing of God – Hebrews 6:7 while we complain about the lack of rain it is imperative we respect what comes to us. One way to do this is to ensure the RWH at our houses & offices are maintained well & our ready at all times. My Home My RWH
