Rains in Chennai provide temporary relief

Reading Time: 2 minutes

After the deluge on Monday Rains in  Chennai provided temporary relief yesterday with moderate spells during the day and easing off fairly to light spells towards the night.  This would mean a huge boost to the rescue efforts with additional water logging risk greatly reduced.

Rainfall Update:   The Trough of Low has now moved across Sri Lanka in a NW direction and lies just off the TN coast over the Gulf Of Mannar region.  While the land interaction over Sri Lanka has certainly robbed the intensify of the system to some extent it could once again re intensify over the waters of  GOM.  We will continue to monitor it closely and update as things evolve.

As things stand parts of North Coastal TN could receive another day of heavy rains today.  The heaviest rains could possibly be between Pondy & Nagapattinam today with one or two places in this region expected to receive extremely heavy rains on account of the trough.  Pondy & Cuddalore districts should be on high alert for possible flooding rains
