After a few days of dry weather Chennai is expected to return to rainy days over the next couple of days.  Thanks to the UAC over South Bay the last couple of days wind directions were from the East which is now shifted back to being the regular Westerlies.

After couple of days of widespread rains over most parts of Tamil Nadu, yesterday saw isolated rains over one or two places.  Parts of Chennai received passing showers late in the night.

Rains slowed down in most parts of Tamil Nadu yesterday with only a few places in the districts of Salem, Vellore, Tiruvannamalai & Nilgiris getting rains.  Namakkal & surrounding areas possibly got the best spells of rains in the state.

Many parts of Interior Tamil Nadu saw widespread rains last night with some of the heaviest spells happening over the Delta region in Central Tamil Nadu.  Thuvakudi near Trichy and Devakottai in Sivaganga district got close to 8 cms of rains during late evening yesterday.
