Last night saw heavy rains lash most parts of Western Tamil Nadu with areas around Dharmapuri, Erode, Namakkal districts. Mallasamudram in Namakkal district received 80 mm rains of which 79 mm fell in a 3 hour spell starting from 8 PM.

Heavy overnight rains lashed most parts of Chennai. The IMD weather station in Nungambakkam recorded 23 mm with most of the rain happening between 11:30 PM & 12:30 AM.
