As IMD gets ready to announce the withdrawal of Northeast Monsoon today mostly dry weather is likely to prevail over the state for the next week or two under unfavorable atmospheric conditions. The last couple of days except for isolated rains in one or two places sun has been shining bright across the state bringing relief to the farming community. Though the current spell of sunshine is no consolation for the heavy rains that lashed during pre Pongal days at least no further aggravation may happen over most parts of the state.
Few places along the coast in Delta districts & in South Tamil Nadu could see light rains over the next couple of days as weak Easterlies may influence the weather there but these are mostly likely to be passing spell of showers and at best light rains in a few places and may not bring any long term damage to the farmlands waiting to dry out completely.
