Mostly Dry Conditions to continue over Tamil Nadu

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Yesterday saw fairly subdued rainfall activity over Tamil Nadu with isolated thunderstorms developing in the Cuddalore / Pondicherry region late afternoon / evening.  Subsequently areas to the North & Northwest of Chennai had a fairly intense band of thunderstorm develop over the Pulicat region that moved in towards parts of Chennai and gave moderate spells of rains over many areas.  Otherwise most parts of Tamil Nadu was under stable weather conditions with temperatures also staying a degree or two lower than the previous days in South TN.

Under the influence of of the East West Shear Zone and the presence of the Upper Air Cyclonic Circulation over Central India parts of Maharashtra could be in line to receive fairly heavy spells of rains today.  Mumbai which has been going through a dry patch for the last few days could get its due share as well with isolated heavy spells expected at times.

As far as Tamil Nadu goes things are expected to be more stable and most parts of the state is expected to be under dry conditions with wind patterns changing the moisture equation slightly against the state.  There is a possibility of some isolated thunderstorms triggered by the sea breeze over the coastal areas but it is likely to be extremely isolated around the North TN areas.  With slightly more clearer skies we could possibly see day time temperatures showing a marginal increase over many areas compared to yesterday.
