Southwest Monsoon has started its revival process aided by conducive conditions in the form of a feeble off shore trough and a circulation in Bay of Bengal. This will be a very critical spell of rains for the Cauvery basin.
While parts of Chennai recorded light rains last evening places like Cuddalore recorded heavy thunderstorms that brought nearly 9 centimetres of rainfall. along with Cuddalore places in Villupuram and Delta districts like Punjab Nagapattinam thiruvarur also recorded moderate rains.
