Low Pressure in Bay of Bengal to start rains for Coastal TN

The Upper Air Cyclonic Circulation currently off Sri Lanka is expected to evolve into a Low Pressure in Bay of Bengal.  Under the influence of this Low Pressure rains are expected to pick up over Coastal Tamil  Nadu & South AP in the days to come.  Overnight rains have been lashing parts of Cuddalore, Nagapattinam & Thiruvarur districts.

Coastal Areas have started to get rains under the influence of the evolving Low Pressure in Bay of Bengal.  Some places have reported heavy overnight rains with Nagapttinam, Cuddalore & Thiruvarur districts seeing a few places report more than 30 mm rains from these spells.

Northeast Monsoon Update: With Northeast Monsoon set to get into an active phase thanks to the evolving Low Pressure in Bay of Bengal the coastal region of Tamil Nadu from today could see increased activity.  With Delta region & South Tamil Nadu already receiving spells of heavy rains from today the rainfall will pick up for North Tamil Nadu and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh as well. The stretch between Marakkanam to Vedaranyam could possibly see spells of heavy rains today with the rains expected to peak as the day changes to night.

Chennai Weather Update: Early morning rains in parts of the city which could pick up as the day progresses with many areas getting rains around 8:00 / 9:00 AM.  The day is expected to be cloudy with spells of rains on and off. Day time temperature is expected to be around 30°C. Towards late in the night we could see spells of heavy rains across the city with one or two heavy spells around early morning tomorrow.
