With March approaching places in Interior Tamil Nadu are getting ready for Early Summer conditions. Yesterday saw the day time temperatures show an increase of about 2 degrees over many places in the state. While Salem recorded 36.4 to top the charts in the state among IMD stations Karur Paramathy was not far behind at 36. Even Coimbatore was fairly hot at 35.1°C
As many would be aware its the interior places that sets the tone for summer first well before the coastal places of Tamil Nadu which tends to be moderated by the Easterlies until possibly middle of April. The West Interior districts of Tamil Nadu typically sees the first spike in temperature along with South Tamil Nadu before North Interior Tamil Nadu districts like Vellore follow suit. Finally its the coastal zone joining the party as Easterlies weaken.
While there exists a Mean Sea Level Trough of Low along the Equatorial Indian Ocean and Southwest Bay which could lead to some cloudy skies over the state the temperature pattern is set to continue in terms of hot conditions prevailing during day time. Today also we are likely to see isolated places in the state particularly around the West Interior region reach up to 37 / 38°C while most places in the region record around 35 / 36°C.
Places like Chennai in Coastal Tamil Nadu could see slightly better conditions with day time temperatures settling around 31 / 32°C with mornings continuing to be fairly cool around 21 / 22°C
