Mask Up India. As everyone is aware the second wave of Corona has been ravaging many parts of India with health infrastructure in well developed urban metropolis’ like Mumbai, Delhi & Bangalore crumbling under the weight of patients who needed intensive care. In this context each one of us as a responsible citizen will have to do our bit by ensuring all of us are always Masked, in the right manner, maintain sufficient social distancing and restrict our outdoor visits to essentials so that we do not become victims or for that matter inadvertent carriers as well. This is absolutely essential in the interests of your family too.
Now back on the weather front while last week saw widespread thunderstorm activity over interior parts of Tamil Nadu & even parts of Chennai recorded moderate to heavy spell of rains bringing much needed relief to the state as summer started to show up its face. This week while the spatial spread of thunderstorms may not be as much as last week it has persisted over the interior parts of West TN & parts of South TN, particularly along the Western Ghats. Places like Erode has been recording a fairly active pre monsoon thunderstorm season getting rains almost on a daily basis & at times heavy spells during late evening. With wind instabilities seen today as well between the altitudes 0.75 kms ASL to 2 kms ASL thunderstorms are likely to continue today as well. The guiding wind layers for thunderstorms are showing weak wind speeds which could mean slow moving thunderstorms providing for heavy spell of rains in a few places as they make slow progress.
As far as North TN goes its going to be relatively dry with weather models indicating day time maximum temperatures to stay 2 / 3ºC above normal. Weather models also indicate sea breeze to make a slightly delayed entry over places like Chennai which could increase the heat quotient during the afternoon time. Also one must also keep in mind the humidity levels will be quite high as the sea breeze moves in making it a very uncomfortable evening for the citizens.
