Hot and dry conditions are likely to continue across most of Tamil Nadu as summer starts to take a firm grip over the seasonal weather pattern. Last couple of days have seen the day time high temperatures climb up over almost all of the IMD observatories in the state with Salem recording 39.8ºC more than 2 degrees above normal while neighbouring Dharmapuri recorded 39ºC about 2.5 degrees above normal.

Weather models indicate today could be slightly less hot compared to yesterday but nevertheless across the state temperatures may stay a degree or two above normal with places in districts like Salem, Erode, Karur, Tiruchirappalli, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Tiruppur recording temperatures around 37 / 38ºC mark in a few places.

Overall dry weather is likely to prevail over the state except for one or two places along the Western Ghats which could see some light thunderstorm activity around Kanyakumari district in South TN. Few places in Kerala though could see evening spell of showers in a few places.

Chennai will remain warm and humid with day time temperatures staying around 33 / 34ºC while mornings will start to become warmer with the cool mornings around the last days of March / April beginning fading away from memory soon.
