As we get into the last week of April the seasonal Summer has started to show its face over most of Tamil Nadu. Karur Paramathi recorded a second straight day of 41°C while little away the Airport observatory at Tiruchirappalli recorded 40.1°C. Vellore & Tiruttani which recorded above 41°C on Friday showed some respite with max temperatures coming down to 39s. Nevertheless the overall trend was that of Hot Afternoons across the state.
Today also it is going to be a hot “Sun Day” for most parts of the state with once again the districts of Karur & Tiruchirappalli along with parts of Erode & Namakkal districts likely to be the hottest areas of the state with many places in these districts seeing max temperatures touch 40°C. Isolated places in North TN in the districts of Villupuram & Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram & Tiruvannamalai could see temperatures inch closer to 40°C. While suburbs of Chennai may see hot afternoon places closer to the city could get some respite around mid noon from strong sea breeze as estimated by Numerical Models.
As has been the last couple of days places along the West Coast in Kerala & Karnataka will once again see late afternoon thunderstorms due to the converging winds from East & West. The places along the Ghats in Tamil Nadu especially around the Nilgiris district and adjoining parts of Karnataka & Kerala look ideally placed for some thunderstorms while there is some possibility of moderate thunderstorms around Theni region.
