Vigorous Monsoon conditions over parts of Konkan Coast has been bringing heavy rains to many places along the Maharashtra Coast and the Shahyadris. The IMD observatory at Mumbai Airport, Santa Cruz has recorded 173 mm till 5:30 today morning.
Satellite images show intense clouding off the Konkan Coast under the influence of strong monsoon surge seen all the way across Peninsular India. While Konkan Coast has been under monsoon attack South Karnataka & Kerala has been subdued though indications are from Monday these places also could see an uptick in rainfall. The feeble Offshore Trough seen off North Kerala coast could improve conditions for Rainfall from today.
Today & tomorrow though it’s going to a spell of Heavy to Very Heavy Rains for many places over the Konkan coast including Mumbai. Isolated places in the Eastern Suburbs falling under the windward side of the Ghats is likely to see extreme rainfall today. With lakes around Mumbai nearing full capacity we are likely to see more water logging & localised flooding in the metropolis.
