Heat Wave Conditions likely to ease marginally over South India

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The heat wave conditions that has held South India by its grip for the last few days has brought in some very high temperatures over the interior places of the region.  Yesterday saw Karur touch 39 degrees for the first time in 2016 as a fair bit of places saw temperatures cross 38 degrees yesterday.

But things are expected to slightly ease over the next couple of days as temperatures are expected to see a marginal reduction.  This marginal reduction in temperatures will be very visible over the Andhra & Telengana regions which saw many places cross 40 degrees during this spell.

The temperature anomalies are expected to still be slightly higher than normal over parts of interior Tamil Nadu particularly around the South & West Tamil Nadu region.  But this also could see a marginal reduction in temperatures.  The coastal areas in the East Coast continues to be shielded by the surface level Easterlies keeping the day time temperatures under check.

Interior areas could see some rains aided by the heat induced convection and wind instability.  Parts of Kerala & South Tamil Nadu could see rains under the influence of  the trough extending from the upper air cyclone around Vidhabha region.
