The last few days had seen thunderstorms develop over parts of Kerala and in particular over central parts of the state not only bringing some rains late in the evening but also some relief from the heat that has been building up as Easterlies strengthen over Peninsular India.
Weather models indicate today could be a fairly hot day across most parts of the state with indications showing parts of Pathanamthitta, Kollam, Thrissur & Palakkad district could inch towards a day time high of nearly 39 / 40°C with one or two places touching 40°C around Punalur which has been seeing maximum temperatures hovering around 39°C for the past couple of days.
Temperatures over interior Tamil Nadu has also been slowly creeping up with Madurai, Trichy, Salem hovering around 37°C mark. Today could be no different with many places in Namakkal, Erode, Karur, Salem, Trichy, Madurai & Virudhunagar districts seeing day time temperatures stay around the 37°C mark. Weather models indicate these parts of Tamil Nadu along with few pockets of Kerala to see day time temperatures stay 3 to 5 degrees above normal.
While there is still no consensus on whether Corona Virus could see its impact reduce as temperatures increase the increasing temperatures could certainly improve the spirits of many in Kerala who have been living with a fear of possible epidemic
