The rains have tapered off over most parts of Tamil Nadu. The last couple of days have seen isolated rains over few places in South TN and one or two places around the delta region. North TN though has been relatively dry.
While dry weather has been running the show the wintry conditions are still not firmly established over Peninsular India yet. North India has been seeing a fairly cold spell of weather over the last couple of days while South India has been seeing slightly warmer than normal temperatures.
Possibly the presence of weak synoptic activity in the Equatorial waters could be the reason why many parts of South India has been seeing slightly warmer and humid afternoons and warmer than normal early mornings. These synoptic conditions though are too far away to influence in terms of rainfall pattern though with rains slowing down completely over most parts of Tamil Nadu. Due to the trough over Arabian sea parts of Kerala could see light rains.
As 2018 draws to a close the last couple of days promises to be the first spell of winter like conditions over Tamil Nadu.
