Yesterday after the early morning rains cloudy weather in Chennai was pretty much the pattern right through the day. Late night saw isolated light rains in few areas of the city while South of Tambaram the areas up to Chengalpattu received early morning rains as the storms moved towards the sea. Thaiyur near Kelambakkam (OMR) recorded about 12 mm from midnight rains while the IMD observatory in Nungambakkam recorded 1 mm from these late night rains. Elsewhere in rest of Tamil Nadu Rasipuram recorded about 39 mm rains while Neyveli recorded 19 mm rains.
The cloudy weather in Chennai is set to continue today as well with temperature expected to stay well below normal at around 33 / 34 degrees. Though the temperature could be on the lower side sea breeze is not expected to make any major impact today making it a warm evening with temperatures staying around 30 / 31 degrees well through the evening before possible thunderstorm movement later in the night bringing down the temperatures.
Tamil Nadu is likely to see precipitation conditions like last couple of days with isolated places getting light to moderate rains during late evening and through the night. A few places in Andhra Pradesh, Telengana & Chhattisgarh could get heavy rains under the influence of the Upper Air Cyclonic Circulation that is now present off the North Andhra Coast and is expected to move in a Westerly direction across Peninsular India over the next couple of days.
