Chennai Weather – Warm Sunday on the cards

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Like the previous days some areas of South Chennai received isolated spells of passing showers last night.  The rains were extremely isolated and was a drizzle at most places. Most of Tamil Nadu was dry with only one or two places receiving light spells of evening convective rains

Southwest Monsoon Update: The Monsoon trough is now firmly established along the foothills of Himalayas.  This is expected to continue for a few more days though some of the models expect a weak low to evolve from the current Elongated UAC in Central Bay.  A possible weak low might evolve from Bay and possibly move towards Central India bringing some rains to Odisha, Coastal AP, Telengana, Vidharba, Chhatisgarh & parts of MP but this is unlikely to develop strong nor bring the Monsoon axis south into Central India.

In the meanwhile parts of West Coast between Konkan & North Kerala are getting some isolated spells of rains thanks to the moisture incursion provided by the off shore trough.  This is expected to push in some rains into North Interior Karnataka as well. Telengana & Coastal AP could get isolated rains from the Elongated UAC at mid level present over West Central Bay.

Tamil Nadu Weather Update :Warm day ahead for most parts of Tamil Nadu with some places getting uncomfortably hot at around 38°C .  Possible extremely isolated convective thunderstorms in one or two places in North Coastal Tamil Nadu around the Vellore & Tiruvannamalai region.

Chennai Weather Update: A hot day on the cards with temperatures touching 37°C possibly, chances of evening thunderstorms look remote though some places in South Chennai around Tambaram could get isolated spells of passing showers in the night
