Last evening saw quite a few areas in Chennai receive spells of rains in the evening, though not heavy as the previous day nevertheless the rains were a good end to a warm day. A Similar day is on the cards for today as well.
Southwest Monsoon Update: Southwest Monsoon continues to give heavy rains in Central India thanks to the depression that has now weakened into a low. Crucially this low has given some good rains to the Vidharbha region. Unfortunately Marathawada, Madhya Maharashtra & Konkan region continues to miss out on heavy rains. This low is now expected to fade giving way to a possible low under development in North Bay. As it evolves the rains will shift to East India once again.
Rains have started to appear once again over Peninsular West Coast though they are not as heavy as what an extremely critical situation in Kerala would warrant. Though not widespread it is giving some decent rains over a few pockets and is expected to pick up in the days to come as the Bay system evolves. Interior places of Karnataka & South Andhra Pradesh could develop from an upper level wind confluence created instability to get some isolated rains today evening, it could be very heavy in one or two places.
Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Another partly cloudy day for most parts of North Tamil Nadu with temperatures around 36°C. South Tamil Nadu will be warmer with much clearer skies. Towards evening interior areas, adjoining Karnataka, South AP, of North Tamil Nadu will get thunderstorms aided by the wind confluence instability. This could be heavy in a few places around Krishnagiri, Vellore & the Jawwadhu Hills region.
Chennai Weather Update: Very pleasant morning at around 27°C with the day warming up slowly to about 35°C under partly cloudy skies. Late evening rains possible in many areas as the storms forming in the interior region of Tamil Nadu & adjoining Andhra make their way to the coast.
