Last couple of days as expected Chennai & most parts of Tamil Nadu took a break from rains. Yesterday Chennai saw a very comfortable 35.4°C day time temperature thanks to the high level cloud cover that persisted the whole day
Southwest Monsoon Update: The deep depression over North Bay intensified yesterday morning to Cyclone Komen, the first cyclone in 26 years to form in the month of July. It has subsequently made landfall in Bangladesh and is expected to weaken into a depression and merge in the Monsoon trough providing heavy rains over most parts of East India & Bangladesh. The depression over West Rajasthan is drifting North as it continues to weaken and fade away from influencing the West Coast rains. Consequent to this the off shore trough will start giving more rains from today over many parts of Peninsular West Coast.
In the meanwhile a zone of instability is developing over Peninsular India thanks to the wind confluence at mid level with dry air from Central Asia aided by the position of the depression over Rajasthan and the moist cross equatorial winds. This zone of instability is going to provide rains to many places in the region with one or two places under heavy spell
Tamil Nadu Weather Update : Warm day expected over most parts of Tamil Nadu. Towards the evening thunderstorms over North TN & adjoining parts of South AP will develop from the zone of instability providing rains to many places. One or two places will be under intense thunderstorms.
Chennai Weather Update: Chennai will see a warm day with temperature around 37°C late evening thunderstorms from the west expected to give rains to many areas of Chennai. These rains are expected to peak late in the night.
