Last evening saw passing showers in a few areas in South Chennai while most parts of Tamil Nadu remained fairly dry, this is expected to continue today as well.
Southwest Monsoon Update: The LPA off Odisha coast continues to develop under moderately favorable conditions and is expected to become a Well Marked Low in the next 24 – 48 hours. Under its influence spells of heavy rains are expected to happen over many parts of Odisha, some parts of Chhatisgarh, Jharkhand & West Bengal. With the LPA moving slightly to the North the rains bands are also expected to slightly move north to benefit more areas of Central & East India.
North Coastal AP and parts of Telengana would continue to get spells of heavy rains with many places getting another day of good rains in this region. One or two places in North Karnataka could get heavy spells of rains particularly around Belgavi region. West Peninsular Coast could get another good day of rains with the moisture drag happening over Peninsular India. These rains could be heavier around Uttara Kannada district and surrounding areas.
Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Fairly dry conditions to continue over most parts of TN today as well. South TN is expected to have another blazing day with places like Madurai, Trichy expected to have another 38°C-39°C day. North TN though could have partly cloudy skies and the day time temperatures in the plains could be around 35°C. One or two places could isolated thunderstorms in the evening but chances of widespread rains appear remote.
Chennai Weather Update: Partly cloudy skies with max temp of around 35°C. A fairly dry day on the cards except for may be one or two areas receiving a spell or two of passing showers.
