The Bay Low Pressure that has provided for some rains over the last couple of days in many parts of Chennai continues to persist around North Andhra Coast. Yesterday also saw many parts of the South Chennai record moderate showers during the afternoon with Meenambakkam recording about 14 mm rains. While rest of the city recorded spells of showers the bulk of the rains happened in the South and the Southern suburbs. Further down South places like Chegalpattu, Mahabalipuram recorded fairly intense thunderstorms at the same time.
While bringing back the rainy days to Tamil Nadu the Bay Low Pressure has brought a major relief to the people of Andhra which has been seeing extremely poor Southwest Monsoon so far. Except for June the rains have been patchy in the state so far, but this Bay Low Pressure has provided for the coastal areas to benefit from rains for the past 2 / 3 days with possible rains today as well. One or two places around the coastal area between Ongole & Kakinada could see moderate to heavy rains but the pattern seems to indicate possible slow down in rains
Most of North Tamil Nadu could see cloudy skies which could keep the temperatures under check. While parts of North Tamil Nadu could see isolated thunderstorms develop during the day one or two places in coastal TN could see moderate to heavy spells of rains in the afternoon under the convergence effect near the coast.
Chennai could see another fairly comfortable day with temperature in the region around 33 / 34 degrees during day with occasional spell of rains late in the evening / night.
