Monsoon continues to remain active over Central India & parts of Northwest India over the past few days though Peninsular India remains sub par in terms of rainfall received. As explained in the post couple of days back the intra seasonal Monsoon oscillation has been favorable for Central India while monsoon remains suppressive over Peninsular India.
Things are expected to be similar with Bay likely to host another Low Pressure area to follow the previous one over North bay by tomorrow to continue to support Monsoon trough & associated rainfall over Central India. With the upcoming low expected to traverse in the similar path to the last one along the trough in a W/NW direction towards Jharkhand / Chhattisgarh these areas along with East India will see fairly widespread rains this week.
Peninsular India will remain relatively quiet this week to with only places in the North Karnataka Ghats placed well enough to catch up with some moderate to heavy spell of rains. It is ironical to see most of Kerala & large parts of interior Peninsular India come under similar rainfall pattern during peak monsoon times . With the evolving low over the next couple of days coastal TN could see some thunderstorm activity bringing light to moderate rains.
