Southwest Monsoon – Peninsular India continues to get rains
Yesterday thanks to the Upper Air Trough & the marginal UAC off Sri Lanka coast many parts of Tamil Nadu received good rains with heavy rains around Dindigul region. Vedasandur received 62mm receive during the evening while nearby Dharapuram received 47 mm rains.
Tamil Nadu Weather – Heavy rains Lash Many districts
Heavy overnight rains lashed many parts of Tamil Nadu with very heavy rains lashing places in Pudukottai, Kancheepuram, Villupuram & Madurai districts. Acharapakkam in Kancheepuram district has received more than 10 cm rainfall from overnight rains.
Tamil Nadu Weather – Delta districts to Enjoy Rains
Last night saw severe thunderstorms lash parts of the Delta districts. Grand Anaicut received 52 mm from overnight rains as Trichy, Thanjavur, Nagapattinam districts received some heavy rains at many places.

Southwest Monsoon ended August yesterday with a deficit of 23% and an overall deficit of 11% for the season. In recent years both July & August, the traditionally rainiest months, having overall deficits has been a not so regular phenomenon.
