The Veppa Salanam Season continues to provide some rainfall prospects for Interior Tamil Nadu as yesterday also saw thunderstorms in a few places in the western parts of the state. Dharmapuri, Vellore & Krishnagiri districts enjoyed the best spells yesterday with both Harur & Nallampalli recording more than 4 cms rains in the evening. While the hot conditions persist during the day time these evening time rains at various places certainly bring more than relief to the people.
Things look similarly placed today as well with hot conditions expected to prevail over the interiors of Tamil Nadu followed by isolated thunderstorms in a few districts. Temperatures are expected to be around 40°C in most interior places while one or two places around Vellore / Karur / Trichy could touch 41 or 42°C. While Chennai city could see temperatures in the region of 35 / 36°C the southern and western suburbs could cross 100°F settling at around 38°C like yesterday.
With wind confluence continuing to provide support for convective activity to develop in the region after a round day time heating things look good for another day or Veppa Salanam rains over many places of Tamil Nadu. The usual suspects like Western Ghats / Nilgiris are once again well placed for the rains with one or two places along this region in line for some heavy spells of rains.
Today could also see some rainfall prospects for places slightly further to the East compared to the last couple of days like Trichy and may be one or two places of Thanjavur as well in the delta region. Similarly parts of Villupuram district also could see isolated spells of rains. Coimbatore, Erode, Dindigul, Theni & the places along the Western Ghats of Virudhunagar districts are reasonably well placed for a decent spell of Veppa Salanam rains around late evening.
