As we have been mentioning the past few days Tamil Nadu has been pretty much seeing much more moderate day time heat conditions compared to most of the country. While many parts of the country has been seeing day time temperatures about 4 – 6 degrees above normal most parts of Tamil Nadu has been seeing temperatures closer to normal if not slightly above normal.
Today could see a prelude to our summer as numerical models indicate an increase in temperatures by a couple of notches over many parts of Interior Tamil Nadu. In particular North Interior Tamil Nadu could see a few places record 40°C or slightly more. Interior districts like Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Karur, Namakkal, Salem, Tiruvallur & Trichy could possibly bear the brunt of the increased temperatures today. Watch out for places like Tiruttani, Vellore, K Paramathy & possibly Trichy Airport to be in the vicinity of 40°C.
While coastal areas continue to be saved by Easterlies even places like Chennai could see temperatures increase a degree or two compared to the last week or so. The suburbs of Chennai like Avadi, Ambattur, Poonamallee etc could see temperatures inch closer to the famous 100°F. While Nungambakkam could see temperatures in the region of 34 / 35 degrees the airport observatory could see day time highs of 36 / 37°C.
