After couple of days of heavy rains over many parts of Tamil Nadu the rains eased yesterday with only isolated rains happening along the areas adjoining the Western Ghats region in Tirunelveli & Theni districts. Coastal Tamil Nadu though remained mostly fair with things expected to remain the same today as well.
As mentioned in our post yesterday the delta farmers are likely to get a two day dry window, today & tomorrow before the rains could make a return once again around late 25th / 26th. They should make use of the window and possibly harvest their paddy crops as much as possible rather than run risk of further damage during the next spell of rains that is likely to continue for a couple of days once again.
In the meanwhile temperatures will remain warmer than normal for most parts of the state over the next day or two as Easterlies continue to hold sway over Peninsular India under the influence of the Trough of Low. As the Trough of Low moves closer to Sri Lanka in a East to West direction rains will slowly show an increase over “The Land of Serendipity” with the island nation expected to be under moderate to heavy spells of rains for most part of the coming week. Around Republic Day Coastal Tamil Nadu will start getting rains under the influence of the trough which could subsequently push into the interior places of the state as well.
