Rains in South India has been continuing since the turn of the week with Isolated rains in Tamil Nadu, South AP & South Karnataka yesterday Few places in Vellore District like Yelagiri, Vaniyambadi received moderate rains. Arani in Tiruvannamalai district received 28 mm last evening. South Karnataka & Coastal Andhra Pradesh also received rains at many places.
The Wind Confluence effect that was driving these rains is expected to ease over the next couple of days with the lower level winds being forecasted to turn back into Easterlies. In addition to this the trough effect which was also the key driving force for the rains has started taper off as well. All in All the rains are expected to ease from possibly the weekend.
Today could see the rain bands shift slightly more East with more rains happening in the Sea to the East of Indian Coast with some isolated rains in South India to continue along the band of South AP / North TN with some areas in South Interior Karnataka as well getting benefited. The area bordered by Nellore, Bangalore & Chennai stand the best chance of rains with the coastal belt between Nellore & Chennai in line to receive some rains.
Chennai could see partly cloudy skies but the day time temperatures are expected to be warm and the trend of warm nights are expected to continue today as well. Night time temperatures will stay around 24 – 25°C while day time temperatures could be around 30°C. Later in the day there is a possibility of some rains in a few areas though these are not expected to be very heavy.
