Yesterday saw Interiors of Tamil Nadu receiving heavy rains with Veppanthattai in Perambalur district receiving 128 mm rains till 4:30 in the morning. Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Trichy, Erode, Namakkal districts received fairly widespread rainfall aided by the Wind induced instability thanks to the winds changing from Westerlies to Easterlies over the East Coast of Peninsular India
With Southern Peninsular India continuing to be under a Wind Induced Instability on account of the changing wind directions rains are expected to continue over many places in Peninsular India. West Coast under the influence of moisture carrying Westerlies could see heavy rains particularly over South Kerala & adjoining high ranges. Kozhikode, Wayanad region and adjoining parts of Nilgiris in TN could also see heavy spells of rains. Parts of Karnataka around Uttar Kannada, Belgaum & Hubli could see some rains aided by the Depression over Arabian Sea.
Tamil Nadu Weather Update. Yesterday saw interior districts of Tamil Nadu receive very heavy spells of rains at many places with the Delta region getting heavy rains at many places.
Today could see many places in South Tamil Nadu receive spells of heavy rains. The rains could be very heavy in one or two places around the districts of Madurai, Virudunagar, Ramanathapuram, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari.
Isolated spells of heavy rains may be possible in Sivaganga, Theni & Dindigul districts. In the West interior districts Salem, Namakkal could see another rainy day along with parts Tiruppur. In the Delta region Perambalur, Ariyalur and parts of Trichy along with Nagapattinam, Thanjavur & Thiruvarur could see some rains.
In North Tamil Nadu places around Dharmapuri, Tirupathur & Tiruvannamalai could see some rains in the interiors while North Coastal TN between Chidambaram & Vedaranyam stand a chance of isolated spells of heavy rains.

Chennai Weather Update: Partly cloudy skies in the morning clearing up as the day progresses. Day time temperature could settle around 34°C with humidity also expected to be above normal. Rainfall chances appear remote for Chennai as things stand.
