Last night saw widespread rains lash the delta region with Tiruchirapalli, Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur and Thanjavur districts getting good rains. Also places in the districts of Vellore, Kanchipuram, Tiruvannamalai districts also got heavy spells of rains. Southern Suburbs of Chennai like OMR, ECR also got heavy spells of rains early in the morning.
As Southwest Monsoon shows signs of withdrawing from parts of Central India, under the influence of the East West Shear Zone along 16N and aided by a pair of Upper Air Cyclonic Circulations off North Andhra / South Odisha & Karnataka coasts Peninsular India continues to get spells of heavy rains in the interior places. Last night also saw heavy rains in many places of South Karnataka with places around Bangalore, Mysore & Tumkur getting very heavy rains.
Isolated spells of rains are expected to continue over the interiors of South Peninsular India today as well with some places in the Rayalseema region around Anantapur expected to get good rains. South Coastal AP around Nellore, Ongole could also be in line to receive one or two spells of heavy rains. In Karnataka areas around Bangalore, Hubli & Belgaum could be in line to receive fairly widespread rains.
Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Most parts of Tamil Nadu could see cloudy weather with temperature in the plains expected to be around 33°C in the North Coastal Region & around 34°C in the plains of South TN. A localized vortex developing off the TN coast could potentially provide rains over many parts of North TN with heavy spells expected around Kanchipuram, Vellore. Late evening rains may be possible in Western TN around the areas of Hosur / Krishnagiri. Isolated rains may be possible in the coastal belt between Ramanathapuram & Nagapattinam.
Chennai Weather Update: Cloudy skies expected in Chennai with the daytime temperature expected to be around 32°C. With better wind support there is a possibility of afternoon rains happening. One or two areas could see heavy spells of rains
