Last evening saw parts of OMR, Kelambakkam & Tiruporur receive spells of rains in a few areas. Tiruporur received 4 mm rains while a Private Weather Station in Paniyur near Uthandi received about 2 mm rainfall.
Southwest Monsoon Update: The Well Marked Low in East India intensified into a Monsoon Depression yesterday and now lies over East Central India. It is expected to become a Low Pressure once again as the land transit has its effect.
Under the influence of the Depression heavy rains are expected to continue in parts of Chhatisgarh while parts of Maharashtra & MP are expected to get heavy rains today with one or two places getting very heavy rains. Vidharba & Marathwada region would get much needed rains as a respite from the drought conditions prevailing over Western Maharashtra areas. West Coast will continue to enjoy a good week of rains thanks to the moisture migration over the region.
Parts of Telengana particularly the districts bordering the Vidharba region would get another day of regions. Last night saw heavy rains over Karim Nagar & neighboring Adilabad district and the situation is expected to continue today as well. Coastal Karnataka is expected to see heavy rains at many places continue today as well thanks to the Depression ideally placed for moisture pull.
Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Partly cloudy skies over North TN with coastal areas of Cuddalore / Pondy / Nagapattinam expected to have another very hot day around 38°C. Rest of the region could see temperatures around 36°C. Towards late evening parts of North TN could get isolated thunderstorms around Tiruttani / Tiruvallur areas. South TN could see a moderately warm day in most places with the Delta region expected to see around 38°C.
Chennai Weather Update: Partly cloudy skies with day time temperature around 36°C. Evening could see some convective thunderstorms develop in a few areas while as the night progresses there is some chance of remnant thunderstorms providing rains as well
