Last evening saw most parts of Chennai receive spells of light showers with places around Madhavaram, Puzhal receiving slightly heavier spells. Gummidipoondi to the North of Chennai received 29.5 mm rains while Minjur received about 7.5 mm rains & Ennore Port received 9 mm during these spells.
Southwest Monsoon Update: Bay of Bengal is getting ready to host the next “Monsoon Low” of the season with a Low Pressure Area expected to form off Odisha / AP coast under the influence of the Upper Air Cyclonic Circulation in West Central Bay. West Coast & Peninsular India continue to have an active monsoon as Konkan enjoys a second good day of monsoon this September. Ratnagiri has clocked 131 mm till 3:30 in the morning adding to the 62 mm of yesterday. East India will slowly get into rainy days as the UAC slowly moves closer to the coast and climbs the latitude.
Most areas of Peninsular India will get another day of rains today with heavier spells expected over Coastal AP & Telengana. The intensity of the rains would come down over Interior places as the disturbance moves up. West coast could benefit from the moisture migration happening across the Peninsular India thanks to the UAC in West Central Bay.
Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Mostly cloudy skies over most parts of North Tamil Nadu with temperatures in the plains expected to be around 32°C. A few places could get isolated spells of rains through the day. South Tamil Nadu could have partly cloudy skies with plains expected to have a day time temperature of around 36°C.
Chennai Weather Update: Pleasant day on the cards with mostly cloudy skies with occasional passing showers in a few areas. Temperature expected to stay around 32°C thanks to the cloudy skies & occasional drizzles. One or two heavier spells may be possible towards the evening.
