Yesterday thanks to the Upper Air Trough & the marginal UAC off Sri Lanka coast many parts of Tamil Nadu received good rains with heavy rains around Dindigul region. Vedasandur received 62mm receive during the evening while nearby Dharapuram received 47 mm rains.
Southwest Monsoon Update: Southwest Monsoon continues to be dry for most part of the country with firm indication of a possible withdrawal shortly. Yesterday was the fourth day in succession West Rajasthan sub division has not received any rains. Thanks to the parked Monsoon trough and a UAC over Bangladesh / NE India the rains are confined to the hills in East India & NE India. This is expected to continue for another day or two.
Peninsular India will continue to benefit from the Upper Air Trough over the Interior places that is running from North Karnataka to South Tamil Nadu Coast. Aided by the marginal UAC off Sri Lanka coast & the trough most parts of Kerala & South Karnataka are expected to get rains with a few places getting heavy spells today. Parts of High Ranges, Wayanad district in Kerala, Coorg and adjoining areas, and areas near Mysore in Karnataka could get heavy spells of rains. Bangalore could see on and off spells of rains through the day.
Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Mostly cloudy skies in many parts of Tamil Nadu with temperatures settling around 35°C. South Tamil Nadu could get spells of rains from the above mentioned condition. Places around Coimbatore, Madurai might get benefit of the heaviest spells of rains today.
Chennai Weather Update: Partly cloudy skies with temperatures around 34°C-35°C. In a case of so near yet so far Chennai has to wait for another day to receive its share of rains though one or two places could get spells of passing showers.
