Rains slowed down in most parts of Tamil Nadu yesterday with only a few places in the districts of Salem, Vellore, Tiruvannamalai & Nilgiris getting rains. Namakkal & surrounding areas possibly got the best spells of rains in the state.
Southwest Monsoon Update: The Monsoon trough is hugging the Himalayan foothills firmly and running all the way upto Manipur. Thanks to the Low Pressure over Bihar East and North East India will continue to receive spells of heavy rains today as well. Northeast India could see some heavy rains along with parts of Bihar & East UP. Parts of Chhattisgarh, MP, Odisha & Jharkhand could receive occasional spells of heavy rains. West coast will benefit from the UAC off Sri Lanka with some heavy rains heading the way of Kerala & South Karnataka. The rain bands are expected to shift slightly to the west as compared to the last couple of days.
Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Cloudy skies in South TN with occasional spells of rains along the coast. Places along the Western Ghats especially around the Nilgiris region could get some heavy spells of rains. North Coastal TN could see moderate day time temperature around 34°C there is a possibility of some instability induced by lower level wind convergence along the coast of North TN which could potentially give some decent spells of rains in the evening.
Chennai Weather Update: Pleasant day on the cards with temperature around 33°C / 34°C. Surface level winds are expected to be Easterlies for most part of the day. As indicated above if the instability develops over North TN in the evening parts of Chennai could receive spells of rains.
