In what has been a case all of this Southwest Monsoon pretty much Hot and dry weather has been the hallmark of Chennai Weather all season long. Except for occasional comfortable days the temperatures have been higher than normal most of the time.
While Southwest Monsoon on a whole continues to be lopsided the evolving low over North Bay is expected to create a few days of heavy rainfall over most parts of Gangetic West Bengal & adjoining Himalayan areas. As the monsoon trough continues to get attached to the foothills of Himalayas incoming western disturbance currently over J&K is interacting with the monsoon trough and producing extremely heavy rainfalls the Himalayan region especially over Himachal Pradesh & Uttarakhand regions.
The evolving low is also helping the increased moisture incursion over West Coast with rains expected to pick up over South Karnataka & Kerala. While Konkan & Goa regions would have to wait for a couple of days for meaningful rains to start, the ghat regions of Shayadris could start to get some decent rains through the day.
Chennai Weather Update: Expect an extremely hot day with temperatures possibly touching 40°C once again. Sea Breeze is expected to set in around 3:00 PM which is expected to bring down the heat and provide some comfort. There is a possibility of some rains to the west of Chennai aided by Convection. Whether would it materialize in some rains for the city we will have to wait and see.
