As the monsoon takes a break from most part of west coast the east coast gets active from possible thunderstorms during the evenings, providing much needed rains and respite from hot weather. Yesterday saw many places around Tambaram and south of it get good rains. Our fellow blogger Raijinweather’s weather station near Kelambakkam recorded more than 15 mm of rains last evening.
Chennai Weather Update : The situation is expected to continue today as well with potentially hot day for #Chennai courtesy the surface level winds from the W/NW. The sea breeze is expected to set in around 2 PM. This could trigger some local thunderstorms. Since the storms are expected to be governed by NW to SE winds Chennai will have to get some storms form near Tirupati / Nagari for some decent rains. Going by model data there could be a decent possibility of thunderstorms developing in that area today.
The dipping of trough like yesterday potentially could lead to thunderstorms & rains over most parts of Coastal North Tamil Nadu. The stretch between #Pondicherry to #Mahabalipuram possibly is best primed to get another day of heavy rains.
