The last couple of days once again thunderstorms have started to improve along the Western Ghats all the way from North Karnataka to South Kerala. The role of wind convergence can be clearly seen if one were to overlay the thunderstorm charts over the wind charts. Additionally the coastal areas of South TN have been seeing rains once in a while during the wee hours indicative of the moisture being brought up by the Easterlies.
Over the next few days weather models indicate the weakening of Easterlies & strengthening of Westerlies. The strengthening Westerlies are likely to penetrate to the East of Western Ghats bringing the convergence zone and associated region of thunderstorms to more areas of Interior Peninsular India. This is likely to trigger once again thunderstorms over interior Tamil Nadu in the coming days.
Like yesterday today once again places along the Western Ghats in Karnataka is likely to see good thunderstorm activity with one or two places in line to get fairly intense thunderstorms in the evening as well. Due to the Easterlies tomorrow early morning once again there is some chance for areas along the coast in South TN to catch a spell or two.
On the temperature front similar conditions like last couple of days is likely to continue with interior places staying around 39ºC with one or two places touching 40ºC. Coastal places like Chennai will remain hot & humid with temperatures staying around 35ºC
