The Upper Air Circulation off the Comorin Coast has further intensified and is now stretching upto 500 hPa levels, this has resulted in monsoon type rains for the Southern Tip of Indian Peninsula.
Today Kanyakumari district and the coastal areas of Kerala has seen heavy rains lash right through the evening. Many places like Trivandrum , Kumarakom, Thenmala in Kerala have seen rains in excess of 50 mm today evening. These rains are expected to continue for another day or so with Kerala getting the bulk of the rains tomorrow and places in Kanyakumari district also getting widespread rains. Quite a few places would get spells of very heavy rains during this period.
In the meanwhile things are looking good for Chennai to receive a spell of rains along with most places of North Tamil Nadu on Friday night. A detailed forecast will be put up by COMK closer to the event. Till then lets hope the models don’t change their mind.
